Origin Story

The punchy and tangy flavours of tomatoes dance on the palate as you take the first taste of this curry. Followed by a beautifully balanced kick of heat and piquancy from chilli and rich layers of savoury-sweet comfort.

Jalfrezi – meaning ‘hot fry’ – is an Indian version of a stir-fry that is believed to have originated around the early 19th Century.  It is said that Jalfrezi came to be when people in India began currying leftover cold meats with onions and chillies. Hence, Jalfrezi curry sprang to life as a practical way to use up leftovers.

The dish has since evolved to become a more sophisticated curry with a complex spice mix. In our rendition, carefully tailored spices form deep layers of flavour, which are delicious with any meat or vegetables.

  3. Stir in the main sauce and simmer for another 3-5 minutes, or until the protein or veg is cooked through.
