Origin Story

Pad Thai, widely considered as Thailand’s national dish, is a vibrant noodle dish that is adored by many. The dish perfectly encompasses the classic Thai flavour combination of sweet, sour and salty in a mouthwatering sauce that coats moreish rice noodles. Rice noodles have long been used in Southeast Asian cuisines, but when paired with the salty, umami flavours of soy and fish sauce, tangy-sweet tamarind and zingy lime, a dish came into being that was uniquely Thai.

Product Information

If using chicken or vegetables, slice these. If using tofu, cut into cubes. Slice the spring onions and whisk the egg.

1. Empty the noodles from the large pouch into boiling water and cook for approx. 5 minutes, then drain and rinse under cold water.

2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a wok or large pan until hot. Stir-fry the protein or vegetables for 2-4 minutes, or until cooked. Add the herbs and spices from the pouch (include chili for extra heat) and cook for 30 seconds.

3. Move the protein to the side of the pan, add 1 tbsp oil and fry the whisked egg for 1-2 minutes, until cooked. Add the beansprouts and the spring onions.

4. Add cooked noodles, stir-fry for 1 minute, stir in the sauce (small pouch) and cook for 2 minutes.

Serves 2 with fresh coriander, peanuts and a wedge of lime.
